A TRIBUTE TO SANDI CAMPBELL
Sandra Gregory Campbell
April 26, 1946 – February 15, 2024
With heavy hearts, we dedicate this performance to Sandi Campbell. Sandi loved Main Street Theatre. She expressed that love by being a long-time volunteer and frequently gathering friends to enjoy a show. Sandi loved people, and consequently, her favorite job was in the box office, where she could greet and assist patrons as they arrived for a performance. She often volunteered on Saturday nights and returned for the Sunday matinee to ensure the box office was covered. Sandi was always willing to do any job necessary—and always with a smile—because she understood that MST relies on volunteers to make the theatre experience enjoyable for everyone. On more than one occasion, a patron would ask, ‘Where’s the other lady?’ when Sandi wasn’t at the door. They may not have known her name, but they remembered her smile and helpfulness. Sandi is missed by many in our theatre community.

A SPECIAL WORD FROM THE DIRECTOR
The story of Harvey has captured this Irish granddaughter’s heart for as long as I can remember. The movie fascinated me, and Jimmy Stewart stole my heart. It was years before I learned that the Pooka has deep roots in ancient Celtic legend. In Irish folklore, the figure of the Pooka is best known for its cunning and wile. In Mary Chase’s play, Harvey defines himself (as revealed to Wilson) as “a wise but mischievous creature. Very fond of rum-pots, crack-pots.” So, a bit of a merry prankster! Even the fun-loving, impish fairy spirit Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream is believed to be a Pooka derivative. A Pooka must be the very best friend to have! I want one. Don’t you?
Elwood’s friendship with Harvey is transformative. We learn that Elwood stopped wrestling with reality a long time ago and decided to follow his mother’s advice and be oh so pleasant. Pleasant? What a concept in this day and age.
Back in 2015 when Main Street Theatre first produced Harvey, the world was oh so different. Our first President of color was in the Oval Office. The White House brokered a nuclear deal with Iran, and 195 countries signed onto a landmark climate-change accord. Americans flocked to see Pope Francis. And I joined the Pro Bono Team at the law firm where I was working. Uptown Funk got us rocking, Taylor Swift made bad look good with Bad Blood, and “The Dress” sparked a global internet debate. Really? Looking back there was a lot of increasing violence and discord, but I believe we were still a more hopeful, kinder nation than we are today.
The magic of Harvey and the wisdom of Elwood is in the way they authentically encounter everyone they meet. They greet them with the utmost civility and kindness. I believe we need to bring that practice back. Simple good manners and respect for all. What would the world look like if we surprised a stranger by holding a door for them, offering them a compliment, or simply said hello? I’ve encouraged my cast to do exactly that and they’ve had some wonderful stories to share. It’s amazing how a sullen face can break into a smile that instantly brightens a blah day.
Elwood tells us that when he meets people, they enter as strangers, but leave as friends. One can never have too many friends. I invite you all to go out and make a new friend.
With profound gratitude,
Merle

WHO'S WHO IN THE CAST
JASON OLDHAM (Elwood P. Dowd) is excited to return in his second production with Main Steet Theatre. After performing in their previous production of Kodachrome, Jason jumped at the chance to play the iconic Elwood P. Dowd. Jason’s other credits include “a couple of short films that you haven’t seen and a few short stories that the industrious might be able to locate.” Jason would especially like to thank the cast and crew of Harvey for all their kindness and support and contends that even Elwood couldn’t be happier with everyone involved.
CANDACE LAMBERT (Veta Louise Simmons) After receiving a BFA in theatre from Florida State University, Candace came to Atlanta where she earned an MA in theatre from GSU and acted in productions around town. When Candace retired three years ago after 17 years of teaching acting and directing competition and mainstage shows at DeKalb School of the Arts, she returned to the stage post-pandemic in productions at Dunwoody Stage Door, Woodstock Arts, and Contemporary Classics. This is Candace’ s third production with Main Street Theatre, the first two in murder mystery dinners where she was lucky enough to die dramatically on stage. She is trilled to be playing Veta in Harvey; one of her favorite characters in a wonderful play.
CARLY SHAREC (Myrtle Mae Simmons) is honored to again be a part of a Main Street Theatre production. She has performed as Leslie Little in Murder at the Y2K Party, Meg March in Little Women, and Mrs. Armstrong in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Carly is a comedian and writer, and has authored the MST mysteries Murder in Transylvania, Murder at the Bake Off, and A Murderous Scandal in Tuckerton. She was featured on Kenan Thompson’s Ultimate Comedy Experience in 2022. Carly lives in Flowery Branch with her two schnauzer mixes, Louis and Taz. She dedicates this performance to her mother.
SARAH MASON (Ethel Chauvenet) is thrilled to be in her second Main Street Theatre production. She has been acting in Atlanta for over 30 years and has appeared in productions with Stage Door Players, Cobb Playhouse, Kudzu Playhouse, Galaxy Productions, Onstage Atlanta, and the theater ministries at Holy Cross Church and Saint Thomas More Church. Some of her favorite roles have been Reno Sweeny in Anything Goes, Golde in Fiddler on the Roof, Mae Peterson in Bye, Bye Birdie, Dolly Levi in Hello Dolly, and Miss Hannigan in Annie. She wants to thank Merle for giving her the opportunity to be a part of this special 10th anniversary season show, Harvey.
ISABELLE PREVOT (Miss Johnson) is ecstatic to be a part of Main Street Theatre’s revival of Harvey! She is a senior studying Theater and Performance Studies at KSU for both acting and writing. She aspires to create and act in more stage and film productions that have yet to be told, and to retell stories that still convey important messages to the audience. While not on stage, Isabelle uses almost all forms of art to express herself by composing and playing music, and dancing all forms of classical dance. Isabelle is extremely grateful to Merle, Tonja, and all involved in Harvey for filling her experience with such joy!
BRYSON PRINCE (Dr. Lyman Sanderson) is acting in his first production with Main Street Theatre. Prince, a graduate of Georgia State University, is an actor from the Tucker area. He started acting at the Paideia School and eventually went on to perform in Xanadu at Outfront Theatre and Sweat at Georgia State University. He is very thankful for all the support he receives from his family and friends. You can follow him on Instagram @brysonprince24.
KIYA HAUSER (Ruth Kelly, R.N.) is super duper delighted to hit the stage with Main Street Theatre for the first time! While Kiya is new to the MST family, she has been drawn to the stage since she was very young. Earlier this year, she played Margaret Leavitt in the Theatre Arts Guild production of Silent Sky. Some of her other roles include Nala in The Lion King Jr. and Scarecrow in The Wiz (Triple 7 Dance Company). Off-stage, Kiya is an engineering student at Georgia State. Kiya thanks Merle, Tonja, and the cast of Harvey for welcoming her so warmly.
RYAN STROUD (Duane Wilson) has previously performed with Main Street Theatre as Alex in Murder Under the Big Top, The Hardware Store Owner/The Policeman in Kodachrome, and Chad in A Murderous Scandal in Tuckerton. He would like to take the time to say “thank you” to his family, friends, co-workers, pets, and castmates in Harvey. Without them, he would not be having the most amazing time in the world. He gives special thanks to Merle, the crew of Harvey, Jason for getting him into this mess, the Main Street Theatre board, and his wife for her patience and understanding.
JONN MCDANIEL (Dr. William R. Chumley) is a native to Atlanta where he studied choral music and comparative religions. He has performed in and directed musicals, plays, operettas, and various singing groups since high school. He has enjoyed being a part of Main Street Theatre since 2016 where he produces murder mystery dinner shows and is also a board member. Recently, Jonn could be seen in Old Town Players’ production of Murder on the Nile as the Boat Captain and Main Street Theatre’s production of Laughing Stock as Vernon Vulker. He was also recently Assistant Director for Merely Players Presents’ production of Barefoot in the Park. Jonn resides in Tucker along with his wife, two kids, and their family dog and cat.
BARBARA MACKO (Betty Chumley) is thrilled to be a part of the 10th anniversary celebration in her MST debut! A native of upstate New York, she is a retired high school choral/theatre director. An accomplished pianist and vocalist, Barbara has music directed shows at Act1 Theater (She Loves Me & Little Women) & PGSH (Guys & Dolls). Barbara has performed around town at City Springs Theatre Company, Atlanta Lyric, Lionheart, Live Arts, Act1 & Act3. Her favorite shows/roles include Harvey (Veta), Lend Me a Tenor (Julia), Nunsense (Mother Superior), Over the River (Aida), and Jesus Christ Superstar (Mary Magdalene). She wishes to thank Merle, Tonja, and the MST family for welcoming her and to Jeff Macko, for his constant love and support!
DAVID ANDIGNAC (Judge Omar Gaffney) studied and performed improv at the Whole World Theater for five years. He performed improvised speaking roles on Personal Injury Court (Morton v Abernathy) and an unaired pilot. He also appeared in Main Street Theatre’s productions of Death by Chocolate, Things My Mother Taught Me, A Murderous Scandal in Tuckerton, and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. During the day he is an Alliance Director for Oracle Software. David thanks his wife, Heather, and children – Davey, Gracie and Ben - for their love and support.
WAYNE KELLEY (E.J. Lofgren) is excited to be in the cast of Harvey . . . again. He appeared in the inaugural Main Street Theatre production of Harvey in May 2015. Wayne has worked in some capacity on all but one of MST’s main stage shows, and four of MST’s murder mystery dinners. He has also worked on shows with Underground Theater, Lionheart Theater, Old Town Players, and Renegade Theatre. Wayne lives in Tucker with Maureen and Pookie.
THE CREW
MERLE HALLIDAY WESTBROOK (Director) is having a blast directing Harvey. Merle was in the first MST production and is delighted to come full circle with this beautiful script. Other directing credits at MST include Little Women, You Can’t Take It With You, My Classmate’s an Alien!, and Murder in Transylvania. She recently enjoyed directing The World Needs More Trees at Vidalia Theatre Company. Her last appearance onstage was in MST’s smash hit Steel Magnolias as Clairee. Merle is incredibly grateful to this extraordinary cast who bring 110% to every rehearsal. Finally, she gives love and a big thanks to the Westbrook Clan for everything.
TONJA BRIDGES (Stage Manager) joined the Main Street Theatre Board in 2022. She worked alongside her teenage son James as stagehand for Laughing Stock (April 2022) before stage managing MST’s production of Steel Magnolias in 2023. In real life, Tonja is a healthcare communications professional and a devoted Broadway musical fan. Many thanks to her husband, Jim, and to her kids for letting her play with this wonderful cast and crew!
SABRINA CHAMBERS (Producer) loves the role of producer, one of her favorite off-stage roles. Her desire to be in control and informed lends perfectly to the task. But in all honesty, the producer’s role is one of the easiest because of the dedicated and talented crew of volunteers, who pour their hearts and expertise into their roles. Sabrina felt it was appropriate to produce the first show of MST’s 10th season. As the founder and president of Main Street Theatre, she couldn’t be more proud to stand in front of the audience each night and show her gratitude for all of the theatre’s success and for making her job the easiest one. She wants to thank you all from the bottom of her theatre heart!
DAVID WESTBROOK (Tech Director /Lighting Design) is exceedingly pleased and incredibly proud to be once again working with this extraordinary team of designers, builders, and crew members, dreamers all, who require absolutely no technical direction whatsoever. Please sit back and enjoy the magic they’ve created for you.
DAVE CONLEY (Set Design and Construction) enjoys the comradery working with the talented and dedicated people of Main Street Theatre. His career skills of designing, fabricating, and managing projects are a natural fit for the role of envisioning and creating the sets for Main Street Theatre. Now retired, this is a great creative outlet to occupy his time. Dave lives in Tucker with his lovely wife Laurie, who also volunteers with Main Street Theatre.
ED KING (Sound Design) is relatively new to Main Street Theatre, but is already having a blast in all sorts of roles. He brings a strong history of experience in venues of all sizes, and has been a long-time part of the Atlanta theatre (especially improv) community. He’s been a part of the MST murder mystery dinners recently (Allan in Murder at the Bake Off) and chipped in all over the place (set, sound, lights, stage… even a little catering) for Death by Chocolate.
KATIE COSSETTE (Costume Design) is thrilled to be returning to Main Street Theatre as costume designer for this show. She appeared in the MST production of Steel Magnolias as Ouiser and knew she wanted to continue to work with this community. Katie developed an appreciation for community theatre at a young age when she ushered, worked the snack bar and got to hang backstage while her mother performed. A social worker by trade, Katie has had a long career in the behavioral health field. Katie’s proudest accomplishments are her two amazing children, Grace (20) & Harrison (17). Katie thanks her husband Thomas for volunteering at MST right beside her!

UPCOMING
OUR 10TH SEASON CONTINUES WITH A MUSICAL!
April 18 – May 3, 2025
Join Main Street Theatre for a year of classics as we celebrate 10 years of making theatre magic in Tucker! What is classic? According to Pan Macmillan, “A classic brilliantly articulates universal themes – like love, morality, death, adversity – and offers revelatory insight and clarity to readers of any era. It always feels fresh.”
Our Spring show will contain all of the above. MST is proud to announce that our first show in 2025 will be our very first major musical.
OLIVER! is a musical adaption of Charles Dickens’ classic tale of poverty and wealth, greed, death and love. The story follows the journey of the orphan, Oliver Twist, through the streets of London while he searches for a loving place to call home. The show is brimming with well-known hits that you will hum along to as soon as you hear the introduction. It includes songs like “Food Glorious Food,” “I’d Do Anything,” “Where Is Love,” and “As Long As He Needs Me.”
We are excited beyond words to tackle this ambitious production which will include a cast with adults and children, complete with choreography and a small, live band. Come see what happens when Main Street Theatre forges ahead into our next ten years!
