Because our goals at Main Street Theatre include fostering a fun, inclusive, community-building environment, our open casting encourages actors of all ages, colors, sizes, identities, cultures, and abilities to audition for any part they are interested in.

Auditions will take place at the Main Street Theatre office at Rehoboth Baptist Church in Tucker (2997 Lawrenceville Hwy, ​Tucker, GA 30084).  ​

Main Street Theatre invites performers of all ages to audition for Miracle on 34th Street, the Play, a heartwarming holiday classic filled with humor, hope, and the joyful possibility that believing can transform our lives. Come help us share a story of hope, joy, community, and belief this holiday season!

Auditioners will perform cold readings from the script. No prepared monologue is needed. Resume and headshot not required. All roles are no pay/no stipend.

Please bring a list of all potential rehearsal and performance conflicts. Actors of every experience level are encouraged to audition.

Important Dates
Performances will run Thursday through Sunday: Dec. 3–6 and Dec. 10–13, 2026. Show times Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30pm and 2:30pm on Sundays.

Actors must be available for all performances and required technical rehearsals.

Regular rehearsals begin Sept. 9 and will be held Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:30-9pm, and Saturdays, 10am-1pm. Not every actor will be called to every rehearsal. A detailed schedule will be created after casting.

At its heart, Miracle on 34th Street asks whether kindness, imagination, generosity, and faith in one another still have a place in a practical world. It is a story of renewed hope and the joy that becomes possible when a community chooses to believe in something greater than cynicism.

Unless a character’s identity is essential to the story, descriptions of gender, age, and presentation are intended as general casting guides rather than rigid limitations. We are interested in performers who bring honesty, imagination, generosity, and a collaborative spirit to the production.

Featured Roles
The role of Kris Kringle has already been cast.

Doris Walker — Female, approximately 30–50
A capable, intelligent, practical professional and devoted mother who has taught herself—and her daughter—not to rely on fantasy. Her encounter with Kris challenges her guarded worldview and invites her to rediscover trust, hope, and joy.
Susan Walker — Female child, approximately 7–12
Doris’ bright, observant, independent daughter. Susan is sensible beyond her years and initially skeptical of imagination and make-believe. Her developing friendship with Kris forms the emotional heart of the story. Requires confidence, strong listening skills, and the ability to handle substantial dialogue.
Fred Gailey — Male, approximately 30–50
Doris and Susan’s kind, optimistic neighbor. Fred is charming without being slick, playful without being careless, and courageous enough to defend Kris when others dismiss him. He brings warmth, humor, and a genuine belief in life’s possibilities.
Shellhammer — Any gender, approximately 30–65
A Macy’s employee caught between corporate expectations and Kris’ unconventional honesty. Energetic, anxious, well-intentioned, and highly comic.
Sawyer — Any gender, approximately 35–70
A self-important company psychologist who regards Kris with suspicion. Sawyer can be officious, controlling, and unintentionally funny, but should remain grounded rather than becoming a caricature.
Judge Harper — Male approximately 45–80
The judge assigned to determine whether Kris is legally Santa Claus. Practical and politically aware, the judge faces an impossible decision with enormous public consequences. Requires excellent comic timing and an ability to command the courtroom scenes.
District Attorney Mara — Any gender, approximately 30–65
The attorney responsible for arguing that Kris is not Santa Claus. Intelligent, confident, and determined, Mara gradually discovers that proving the case may be more complicated—and much less popular—than expected.
R.H. Macy — Male, approximately 40–80
The powerful head of Macy’s department store. A commanding business leader whose competitive instincts are unexpectedly redirected by Kris’ honesty and generosity. This role offers strong character comedy and memorable moments.
Dr. Pierce — Any gender, approximately 40–80
Kris’ physician, friend, and advocate. Compassionate, thoughtful, and level headed, Dr. Pierce understands Kris better than most and speaks on his behalf when his competency is questioned.
Seeking several young actors, aged 7-18.

Additional Featured and Supporting Roles
Ensemble members will help create the bustling world of Macy’s, the holiday parade, the courtroom, the streets of New York City, and the larger community whose faith in Kris gives the story its power. Many ensemble performers will portray multiple characters, and several will have individual lines or featured moments.
